Notice: The University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center at Kansas City, which has provided after-hours emergency care for companion animals since 2018, will end operations on Oct. 2. The MU College of Veterinary Medicine purchased the former Animal Emergency Center, located at 8141 North Oak Trafficway, in 2018, following the death of its founder CVM alumnus Karl Mischke, DVM, ’89.
Staffing challenges have impeded the hospital’s ability to consistently offer emergency care on holidays and during the evenings and weekends. Initial plans for the emergency hospital also included teaching veterinary students and conducting clinical trials. However, due to limitations with the building those plans were not executed.
The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas City provides quality emergency care to the greater Kansas City community.
