The MU Veterinary Health Center offers emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Due to temporary staffing shortages and a high volume of emergencies, our Small Animal Emergency Service is currently unable to provide 24-hour emergency care for all animals. At present we are only treating emergency cases when animals are suffering serious or life-threatening illness or injuries that require immediate care. Equine and food animal emergency services are unchanged, offering 24-hour care.
During evening and overnight hours, our emergency service will only care for established patients of the VHC:
- Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.
During the following hours we will accept new patients that are likely to suffer serious harm without immediate care:
- Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We apologize for this temporary inability to provide 24-care for all animals. If you believe your pet needs emergent care, please contact your local veterinarian or Horton Animal Hospital Discovery.
