The MU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital has been renamed the Veterinary Health Center. The center comprises the Equine, Food Animal and Small Animal hospitals and Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory.

Columbia is well-known for its exceptional quality of life. For pet-lovers, that is especially true as we have something that only 27 other communities in the United States have; a veterinary medicine school and its associated teaching hospital providing us with access to the finest diagnostic and therapeutic services available anywhere.
Recently, the use of stem cells to promote healing and regeneration of certain tissues has become an emerging topic in veterinary medicine and surgery. Companies now exist that can process tissue harvested from a pet and provide the veterinarian with cells purported to have stem cell-like characteristics and may promote healing.
