Small Animal Surgery technicians Alyssa Doner and Mindy Jacobs teach third graders from Derby Ridge Elementary how to put on surgical caps and masks in preparation for surgery.
Hundreds of students tour the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center each year and have the opportunity to meet members of the Small Animal Surgery team. We talk to the students about types of care we provide at the VHC, educate them on how we train vet students, and give them an opportunity to tell us about their own pets. We also have some fun with bandaging each other and learning to put on caps and masks in preparation for surgery. We love telling our community about why we love to be a part of team surgery!
